As June 12th approaches, our family pauses to remember Danny—the boy with the perfect curls and biggest smile who grew into the most incredible young man.

June 12th will mark one year since we said goodbye to our sweet boy, in physical form. While the journey through this year has been unimaginably quiet without his laughter, it has also been a year of deep reflection on the 18 years of joy he gave us. From his arrival as the baby of the family—the only boy among three adoring older sisters—Danny was the heartbeat of our home.
We want to thank our community for the kindness you’ve shown us during this first year of "firsts." Your messages and shared memories have been a lifeline, helping us keep his vibrant spirit alive.
Danny's Healing Garden:
We built this space at the ranch - the place where you worked, loved, and were truly free - so we could always feel close to your gentle spirit.

The Music He Left Behind
Music was the language of Danny’s soul. We can still hear the melodies he created on the piano and the way his voice soared when he sang. It was how he expressed his joy and found his peace.
To honor that passion, we have shared his playlist - the songs Danny loved and had on repeat. It’s a mix of the upbeat tunes that captured his energy and the softer melodies that brought him calm. We hope that as you listen, you feel the same connection and comfort that music always gave him.
Walking in His Footsteps: Mountains and Oceans
Since Danny found so much peace and adventure in the great outdoors, we have spent this past year honoring him through nature. From the mountain trails he loved to explore to the shoreline where the waves brought him calm, these places have become a sacred space for us to connect with his spirit.

From the local trails we used to explore together to new peaks that remind us of his courage, each mile has been a tribute to his spirit. Each mile and each wave has been a tribute to him. Whether we are walking in silence or sharing stories of his quick wit, we feel him in the fresh air and the mountain views. It has been our way of moving forward while keeping him right beside us.

Join Us Outside
Danny taught us the importance of embracing life fully and finding beauty in the world around us. Whether he was riding horses with our dad, out in nature, losing himself in a video game, or cooking something new in the kitchen that he saw on YouTube, he did everything with a curious and vibrant soul. To honor his one-year anniversary, we invite you to step away from the noise of daily life this week.
Take a moment to go for a walk or a hike in his memory. Whether it’s a quiet stroll through your neighborhood or a trek up a favorite trail, take a deep breath of fresh air and think of Danny. If you find a particularly beautiful view, purple flowers or a peaceful spot, feel free to take a photo and share it in the comments below. We would love to see where Danny’s spirit is traveling this week.
The Legacy of a True Gentleman
Though Danny’s departure has left a void that can’t be filled, his influence hasn’t faded. We see him in the way we choose to be kinder, the way we open doors for others, and the way we try to embrace life as fully as he did.

A Mosaic of Memories
Danny was the kind of person who filled a room the moment he walked in. We’ve created this space as a digital guestbook and invite you to share your favorite "Danny story" or photo in the comments below.
To honor his anniversary, our family will be gathering on June 12th to read through all of your messages together. If you are able to share your thoughts, photos, or a toast between now and June 12th, it would bring us so much comfort to read them on his 1 year anniversary.
If you’re looking for a place to start, we’d love to hear about or see photos of:
A time his quick wit or a clever remark made you laugh until it hurt.
Photos of him in his element—hiking, singing, or smiling that infectious smile.
A lesson or value you learned from him.
A moment where you witnessed his "true gentleman" spirit—that innate kindness he had even as a little boy.
A moment by the ocean. The beach was one of Danny's ultimate happy places. If you find yourself by the water, take a deep breath of the sea air, think of him, and share a photo of the waves.
A trek outside. If you go on a walk or hike and find a beautiful view or purple flowers, we'd love to see where Danny's spirit is traveling.
A memory shared over a meal. Danny absolutely loved food—so if you have a story about a time you shared a meal with him, or if you find yourself at one of his favorite spots this week (like Dairy Queen, Villas Tacos, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Chubby’s Hot Chicken, Farmer Boys, The Habit, Porky’s Pizza, Olive Garden, Panda Express, Wing Stop, In n Out, Outback Steak House or eating Thai food), we’d love to hear about it or see a photo of your toast to him.

"In every sunrise we see your light, in every song we hear your voice & in our family bond we feel your eternal love."

Being in school with Danny was always a blast - the sweetest kid, and a true joy to be around! He radiated kindness and it was never a surprise to see him beaming ear to ear when I walked into class. A beautiful soul. Fly high, Danny!
I got to know Danny through his friendship with my son, his classmate in the Over There. The year they were together in class they were fast friends, Max spoke so highly of Danny and treasured their growing friendship. After begging for a play date, finally Danny came over after school. I can still remember all the laughter as they played video games. I'll never forget that Danny declared that they would be lifetime friends. I can see from all the comments that this is the loving spirit took everywhere he went. I think of him so often, his sisters, parents and am inspired to carry some of the loving spirit forward! Danny, you continue to share love and inspire.
We regretfully didn't have the privilege of knowing Danny well, but it's clear to us based on all the comments and memories shared that he was such an awesome young man. We remember him often as we keep his memorial program in our living room alongside others we hold dear. His smile was so bright!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lily and Chavita as they carry the unimaginable loss of a son that will forever be loved and remembered. Cancer truly sucks. It takes far too much from so many of us. It steals time, dreams, and precious moments with the people we love most. May Danny's memory live on in the love he gave and the joy h…
